Objective
• Encourage activity within Hewlett Packard's IT Resource Center's community forums by awarding members with badges represented by icons of increasing status
•Create icons to represent event types in a calendar
Design Approach
As the designer of this project I wanted to create icons that represent 4 different levels of engagement. Each of these icons would act as a badge that would be assigned to each user of the community site according to their engagement. My process for developing these icons started with sketching my ideas on paper. Once I felt confident with the symbolic representation, I created them in digital format. This exercise resulted in illustrating growth from a lemonade stand to a vending cart to a mom and pop shop to a corporate office. After successfully integrating the icons into the site, the team approached me with the need for more icons to expand on my icon set.
