PayPal China
Design eBay China's checkout process while adhering to China's strict finance laws and incorporating details such as escrow option and coupon codes
Establish a simple flow and seamless experience
As the designer representing the PayPal team, I collaborated with eBay to create a cobranded checkout experience that would leverage the strengths of both companies' design guidelines and best practices. Research findings and cultural differences for the Chinese market were considered for this re-design, which led to an optimized experience that reduced the flow from 7 to 3 pages. This was primarily achieved by incorporating expandos that opened only when it was relevant to the user.
Based on my learnings from this project, I authored a case study on handling complex financial interactions in an international market. This paper was presented at the 2007 Human Computer Interaction International Conference in Beijing.
